Before You Start
Be sure to read the following cautions, notes, and tips before installing the Sun Solaris 10 operating
system and the operating environment.
If you purchased the Sun hardware platform from Cisco, the Sun Solaris 10 operating system, the
operating environment, and the base Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch software may already be installed.
You can skip the installation of the software. You must install all of the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch
software patches.
There are two methods to verify if the software was already installed:

Allow at least 2 hours downtime for the installation of the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch software
environment.

The text in the screens displayed throughout this document might differ slightly from the text displayed
on your console. The screen displays are for reference only and should be treated as examples.
Most of the steps in the installation process ask you to press F2 to continue. However, F2 does not apply

to all console types. If it does not apply on your system, you should press Esc-2 instead.

Check if the two files, /opt/jumpstart_log* and /.core_finished, exist on your hardware platform. If
the two files exist, the software was already installed.
Enter man and press Enter. If the system returns the message below, the software was already
installed.
