For example, with the FT-9 01 DM bandswitch set
to 1 OA, and the FTV-9 01 R bandswitch set to
1 44-1 46, operation will take place on 1 44. 0-
1 44.5 M Hz. By setting the FT-901 DM main tuning
dial to 2 8. 25 0.0, operation will take place on
1 44. 25 0
MHz.
See
the
operation for fre quency determination on the
SAT. bands.
NORMAL TUNE UP
(1)
Set the FTV-9 01R RPT switch to N OR, the
M ETER switch to INPUT, the RCV switch to
N OR, t he ALC s witch to S S B
BAN D
switch to the desired band. The
P OW ER switch should be OFF.
( 2) With th e transverter o ff, peak the preselector
on the FT-9 01 DM against the marker signal.
Be certain that the FT-9 0 1 DM HEATER
switch i s ON.
( 3)
Set the FTV-9 0 1 R P OW ER switch to ON.
( 4) For 5 0 or 144 M Hz tuning, set the FT-9 01 DM
CARR control fully counterclockwise. Push
the TUN E button, and slowly advance the
CARR control until the FTV-9 0 1R meter
enter s t he green zone. Now switch the FTV-
9 0 1 R M ETER s witch to PO, and rotate the
TUN E control for a maximum meter reading.
(5) For 430 M Hz, there is no peaking procedure
for the transverter. With the FT-9 0 1 DM
preselec tor peaked, the only adjust ment that
must b e made is to set the drive level
correctly.
( 6) For FM and CW operation, set the ALC
switch to S S B
CW. The transceiver CARR I ER
/
control may be advanced to the point where
the P O does not increase further .
(7) For S S B operation, set the FT-9 0 1 DM M IC
GA IN level so that the FTV-9 0 1R INPUT
level on the meter does not go past the green
zone on the meter scale on voice peaks.
( 8) For AM operation, set the ALC switch to AM,
and set the M ETER s witch to P O. Advance
the tra nsceiver CARR IER control until the
meter i ndicates . 3 on the scale. Advance the
transceiver M IC GA IN control until the P O
meter ju st begins to move on voice peaks.
(9) Advanc ement of any of the drive level s
beyond the point stipulated in steps ( 6)
through
( 8) will not increase the po wer
output; component life may, however, be
section on satellite
CW, and the
/
-
shortened drastically if these input l evels are
exceeded.
(1 0) For 6 and 2 meters, rotation of the FTV-
9 01 R RF GA IN control will provid e adjust
ment of the gain of the receive converter
section. For 4 3 0 M Hz, this control has no
effect, as the converter is always set for maxi
mum gain.

REPEATER OPERATION

When
using
the
FT-9 01 DM
operation on repeaters on 6 and 2 meters is
provided. For repeater split, set the RPT s witch to
the DOWN position for shift of -1 MHz on 6
meters, or - 6 00 K Hz for 2 meters. For a shift of
1 M Hz or
600 k Hz, set the RPT switch to UP.

SATELLITE OPERATION

Operation on the amateur satellites is possible,
using an external receiver in addition to the FT-
9 0 1 DM transceiver. The FT-9 01 DM transceiver.
The FT-9 01 DM provides the transmit signal, while
the external receiver monitors the downlink, on
full duplex.
For O SCAR Mode A, transmission takes place on
1 45. 85 0-1 45.95 0
29.400- 29.5 00 M Hz. Set the FTV-9 0 1 R band
s witch to the SAT. 1 po sition. Set the FT-9 01 DM
band s witch to 1 OD, and tune to 29. 850 - 29.95 0
MHz. Set the external receiver for reception on
29.400- 29.5 00 M Hz.
For O SCAR Mode B, the uplink is 43 2. 1 25-
4 3. 175 M Hz, and the downlink is 1 45.975-
1 45.9 25 MHz. Set the FTV-9 0 1R band switch
to the SAT. 2 position. Set the FT-9 01DM band
s witch to 1 OA, and tune to 2 8.1 25- 2 8.175 M Hz.
Set
the
external
29.9 25 M Hz. The O SCAR 7 Mode
inverts signals, so an upper sideband signal on the
uplink becomes a lo wer sideband sign al on the
downlink. Set the mode s witches on the FT-
9 0 1 DM and the external receiver appropriately.
For O SCAR Mode J, the uplink is 1 45.9 0 0-
1 46. 000 M Hz, while the do wnlink is 4 35.1 0 0-
4 35. 20 0 M Hz. Set the FTV-9 01R band s witch to
the SAT. 3 position. Set the FT-9 01 DM band
s witch, to 1 OD and tune to 29.9 00- 29.999 M Hz.
