8.0 REDUCING THE SEATING SYSTEM
SIZE FOR TRANSPORTATION PURPOSES
The wheelchair can be reduced in size for transportation without a passenger. Any components of the seating
system that can be detached easily should be removed. Store away such components safely so that they can not
cause injury or damage, or become damaged themselves.
8.1 Backrest (Fig 8.1)
Folding the backrest
1.
Lift and turn backrest latch handles (A) inward or outward.
2.
Fold backrest forward.
Return backrest to upright positioning
1.
Lift backrest to upright position so that latch handles (A) lock into place.
2.
Backrest is ready for use.
If necessary, fi rst remove the back cushion and/or the armrest assemblies.
Backrest latches must be locked into place before operating wheelchair.
8.2 Swing in/out footrests (Fig 8.2)
Removing a swing in/out footrest

To remove the footrest, release latch (B) by pulling lever updward or pushing lever downward.
4.
Rotate footrest inward or outward and lift it out of the front frame tube.
Reattaching a swing in/out footrest
1.
From the side, place the pivot (D) into the top of the frame tube which guides the hanger into the correct
alignment with the locking plate (C) on the front frame tube.
2.
Rotate the hanger to the front until it locks into place on locking plate.
8.3 Elevating legrest (option) (Fig 8.3)
To remove and/or reattach elevating legrest, see instructions for Swing in/out footrests (section 8.2).
