Gravely Dealers will provide any service or adjustments
which may be required to keep your unit operating at peak
efficiency. Should engine service be required, contact an
Gravely dealer or an authorized engine manufacturer's
service center.

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

CHECK SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM
Test the safety interlock system before each use. If the
system does not function properly, do not operate the unit
until repairs are made.
CAUTION: Safety interlock system failure and
improper operation of unit can result in death or
serious injury. Test this system each time the unit is
operated. If this system does not function as
described, do not operate until repairs are made.
The PTO must not engage unless operator is sitting on seat.
To test:
1. Start engine.
2. Stand up off of seat.
3. Lift PTO switch. PTO must not engage.
Engine must not start unless PTO is disengaged and the
speed control pedal is in neutral. To test:
1. With engine off, engage PTO.
2. Turn ignition switch to Start. Engine must not crank.
3. Disengage PTO.
4. Press speed control pedal forward.
5. Turn ignition switch to Start. Engine must not crank.

CHECK FASTENERS
Be certain that all hardware is tightened to the proper torque.
Pay special attention to mower blades, guards and safety
shields.
GENERAL LUBRICATION
IMPORTANT: Wipe each fitting clean before and after
lubrication.
Grease wheel bearings and castor pivots before each use
(figure 10).
Apply Ariens Hi-Temp Grease or equivalent to the lube
fittings. Order P/N: 00036700 - ten pack of 14 oz. cartridges.
When using Ariens Grease for the first time, all components
should be thoroughly cleaned prior to lubricating.
CHECK MOWER BLADES
Check mower blades for wear every 25 hours of operation.
Ensure blade hardware is tightened to 115-160 lbf-ft
(156-217 N•m) of torque. See Sharpen the Mower Blades on
page 13 to sharpen blades.
CHECK BELTS
Check belts every 100 hours and every season. Replace
worn or deteriorated belts. Replace belts to accommodate
belt stretch and wear in the traction drive or mower drive.
See Replacing Mower Belts on page 12 for procedures.
