Do not expose charger to rain or snow. Use only recommended attachments. Use of an attachment not recom- mended or sold by Schumacher® Electric Corporation may result in a risk of fire, electric shock or injury to persons. To reduce the risk of damage to electric plug or cord, pull by the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the charger. -
Page 5: Personal Precautions
Use this charger for charging a LEAD-ACID battery only. It is not intended to supply power to a low voltage electrical system other than in a starter- motor application. Do not use this battery charger for charging dry-cell batteries that are commonly used with home appliances. These batteries may burst and cause injury to persons and damage to property. -

eliminate airborne corrosion. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Add distilled water to each cell until the battery acid reaches the level specified by the battery manufacturer. Do not overfill. For a battery without removable cell caps, such as valve regulated lead-acid-batteries, carefully follow the manufacturer’s recharging instructions. -

6.5. If the positive post is grounded to the chassis, see step 6.6. For a negative-grounded vehicle, connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip from the battery charger to the POSITIVE (POS, P, +) ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery. -

BATTERy CHARGING - AC CONNECTIONS This battery charger is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit. NOTE: The INC-800A intermittently draws more than 15 amps of current. We recommend that you either install a 20 amp circuit or do not run any- thing else on the same circuit as the INC-800A or you may trip the breaker supplying the AC power. -

ASSEMBLy INSTRUCTIONS No assembly required. CONTROL PANEL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 11.1 Connect the battery cable assembly to the INC-800A with the quick-con- nect connector on the back of the unit. 11.2 Connect the battery cable assembly to the battery as described in sections 6 and 7. - Page 10 11.5 Press the CHARGE VOLTAGE button to select the correct battery voltage of either 6V or 12V. 11.6 Press the CHARGE MODE button to select the correct battery type and charge rate: FAST: 35 minute charge for automotive and marine batteries. Maximum charge rate for large batteries that can accept up to 80 Amps of charging current.

Press the CHARGE ON/OFF button to restart the charge cycle. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS 12.1 Before performing maintenance, unplug and disconnect battery charger (see sections 6.7 and 7.6). 12.2 After use, unplug and use a dry cloth to wipe all battery corrosion and other dirt or oil from terminals, cords, and the charger case. -

Plug the charger into an AC outlet. Check for open fuse or circuit breaker supplying the AC outlet. Check the power cord or extension cord for a loose fitting plug. Have the battery charger checked by a qualified ser- vice person. -
Page 13: Before Returning For Repairs
PROBLEM The charger is making an audible clicking sound. Charger makes a loud buzz. Before Returning For Repairs 1. When a charging problem arises, make certain that the battery is capa- ble of accepting a normal charge. Use a good battery to double check all connections, AC outlet for a full 120-volts, charger clips for correct polarity and the quality of the connections from the cables to the clips and from the clips to the battery system. -

Limpie los terminales de la batería antes de cargarla.Durante la limpieza, evite que la corrosión transportada por el aire entre en contacto con sus ojos, nariz o boca. Use bicarbonato de sodio y agua para neutralizar los ácidos de la batería y eliminar la corrosión transportada por el aire. No se toque los ojos, nariz o boca. -

El terminal de la bat- ería de polaridad POSITIVA (POS, P, +) por lo general tiene un diámetro mayor que el terminal de polaridad NEGATIVA (NEG, N,–). -

PANEL DE CONTROL INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN 11.1 Conecte el conjunto del cable de batería al INC-800A con el conector de conexión rápida al dorso de la unidad. 11.2 Conecte el conjunto del cable de batería a la batería según se describe en las secciones 6 y 7. - Page 27 RÁPIDA: Carga de 35 minutos para baterías de automóvil y marinas. La tasa de carga máxima para las baterías grandes que pueden aceptar hasta 80 Amperios de corriente de carga. COMPLETA: Hasta 240 minutos de carga para las baterías de automóvil y marinas.

Completación de Carga Al completarse la carga, la pantalla muestra “CHARGE COMPLETE” en la línea superior y “TURN OFF CHARGER” en la línea al fondo. También suena cuatro veces consecutivos para informarle a usted. Cuando al cargador ha dejado de cargar, se cambia en el Modo de Mantenimiento de operación. -

SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS PROBLEMA Hay batería conectada pero la pantalla VCL aún muestra “CONNECT BAT- TERY” La pantalla VCL muestra: “BAD BATTERY” y suena cuatro veces La pantalla VCL mues- tra “BAD BATTERY” y suena cuatro veces, luego cambia en “CONNECT BATTERY”... - Page 30 PROBLEMA La pantalla VCL no mues- tra Nada El cargador hace un ruido leve pero audible. El cargador hace zumbido fuerte CAUSA POSIBLE El cargador no está enchufado. No hay energía en el receptáculo Mala conexión eléctrica Otra El disyuntor está en ciclo. Batería severamente descargada pero de otro modo buena.

Use una batería buena para verificar todas las conexiones, un tomacorriente CA para 120 voltios completos, las pinzas del cargador para polaridad correcta y la calidad de las conexiones desde los cables hasta las pinzas y desde las pinzas al sistema de batería.
