This chapter introduces your HP USB Wireless LAN device.
Welcome
Congratulations on purchasing an HP USB Wireless LAN device.
When used with a HP Wireless LAN Access Point, the HP USB Wireless LAN allows
you to connect your computer to a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) system from
anywhere within the wireless coverage area.
The HP USB Wireless LAN Kit allows you to:
• Connect your computer to a Peer-to-Peer workgroup of wireless computing
devices
• Connect your computer to a small office network that includes an HP Wireless LAN
Access Point
• Connect your computer to a LAN that includes other IEEE 802.11 compliant LAN
systems
• Expand the capabilities of your HP Wireless LAN Access Point, to support wireless
devices that have been equipped with HP Wireless USB LAN devices.

The HP USB Wireless LAN is supported by the following operating systems:
• Windows 98
• Windows 2000
