This chapter demonstrates how to solve any problems with your USB Wireless LAN
device.

LED Activity
The starting point for troubleshooting problems with your USB Wireless LAN is
looking at the LED activity of the USB Wireless LAN.
Power LED
Transmit Receive
LED
Continuous Green
Blinking
Off
Flicker
Flicker
Both LEDs blink once every 10 seconds
Description/Action
Standard operational mode:
- USB Wireless LAN is powered on
- Sensing/transmitting wireless data
- USB Wireless LAN is powered on
- NO wireless activity
No action is required
Power Management mode:
- USB Wireless LAN is powered on, but set to power saving mode
to conserve energy
- Flashes indicate that the USB Wireless LAN wakes up at regular
intervals to verify if there is wireless data addressed to your
computer
The USB Wireless LAN works, but has not yet succeeded in
establishing a wireless connection with the wireless
infrastructure.
Action:
- Contact the LAN Administrator to verify the Network Name
assigned to the wireless infrastructure
- Contact the LAN Administrator to verify the correct value(s) of
the encryption keys
- Contact the LAN Administrator to verify whether the network
infrastructure has been closed
- Change the configuration of your USB Wireless LAN to enter the
correct Network Name
- If there are no Access Point devices available, change the
configuration your USB Wireless LAN to Peer-to-Peer mode.
