Care and cleaning

Descaling

The water we use normally contains lime. It is a good
idea to periodically use a water softening powder in the
appliance. Do this separately from any laundry washing,
and according to the softening powder manufacturer's
instructions. This will help to prevent the formation of lime
deposits.

Maintenance wash

With the use of low temperature washes it is possible to get
a build up of residue inside the drum.
We recommend that a maintenance wash be performed on
a regular basis.
To run a maintenance wash add ½ cup of liquid bleach to
the detergent compartment of the dispenser drawer and
also fill the bleach dispenser compartment to the Max Fill
level and run WITHOUT clothes and selecting the Cotton
program at 90°C.
warning
Before cleaning the appliance interior, unplug the
electrical power cord to avoid electrical shock hazards.

For other interior cleaning

Dry around the appliance door opening, flexible
gasket, and door glass. These areas should always be
clean to ensure a water tight seal.
When extremely soiled items have been washed, a
dirty residue may remain on the drum. Remove this by
wiping the drum with a nonabrasive household cleanser.
Rinse thoroughly with water.
Periodically, wipe dry the folds in the bottom of the
flexible gasket to remove lint and other debris.
The plastic drum vanes may become stained from fabric
dye. Clean these parts with a nonabrasive household
cleanser. This prevents dye transfer to future loads.

Cleaning the dispenser drawer

The washing powder and additive dispenser drawer should
be cleaned regularly:
Remove the drawer by pulling the drawer out until it
stops. (Figure 1)
Reach back into the left rear corner of the drawer cavity
and press down firmly on the lock tab (left rear portion
of the drawer). Pull out the drawer. (Figure 2). (Lock tab
is visible only after drawer has been pulled out).

Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener
compartments. (Figure 3)
Rinse the drawer and inserts with hot tap water to
remove traces of accumulated powders and liquids.
Large amounts of fabric softener residue may indicate
improper dilution or more frequent cleaning is required.
To clean the drawer opening, use a small brush to clean
the recess. Remove all residue from the upper and
lower parts of the recess. (Figure 4)
Replace the insert pressing the "X" to lock it in place.

External cleaning

Clean the exterior cabinet of the appliance with soap and
water only, and then dry thoroughly.

Cleaning the water inlet filter

If your water is very hard or contains
traces of lime deposit, the water inlet filter
may become clogged. It is therefore a
good idea to clean it from time to time.
Turn off the water tap. Unscrew the water
inlet hose. Clean the filter using a hard
bristle brush. Tighten up the inlet hose.
The dangers of freezing
If the appliance is exposed to temperatures below 0°C,
certain precautions should be taken.
• Pull out the plug from the power socket;
• Turn off the water tap.
• Unscrew the inlet hose.
• Place the end of the inlet hose in a bowl placed on the
floor and let water drain out.
• Screw the water inlet hose back on again.
• When you intend to start the appliance up again, make
sure that the room temperature is above 0°C.
