• Sets the port mode for the following LAN ports to Access mode:
- Router LAN port 2. This port is cabled to a desktop that is used for admin tasks
such accessing the router web interface.
- Satellite LAN port 2. This port is cabled to a desktop that is also used for admin
tasks.
- Satellite LAN port 3. This port is cabled to a desktop that is used by an employee.
- Satellite LAN port 4. This port is cabled to a desktop that is available to guests.
Note: LANs (networks) and LAN ports are two different concepts. By default, all LAN
ports and the WAN port on the router and all LAN ports on any connected satellites are
Ethernet ports in the same physical network segment (LAN 1) and members of VLAN 1.
However, you can assign a LAN port to a different VLAN.
To configure your network router and switch and your Orbi Pro WiFi 6 router and
satellite with secure employee, IoT, and guest networks:
1. Create the following VLANs on your network router:
• Add VLAN 20 with the name Employee, and add all ports as tagged members.
• Add VLAN 30 with the name IoT, and add all ports as tagged members.
• Add VLAN 40 with the name Guest, and add all ports as tagged members.
2. Create the following LAN subnets on your network router:
• Add LAN 2 with subnet 192.168.20.0/24, make LAN 2 a member of VLAN 20 (the
Employee VLAN), and enable the DHCP server for LAN 2.
• Add LAN 3 with subnet 192.168.30.0/24, make LAN 3 a member of VLAN 30 (the
IoT VLAN), and enable the DHCP server for LAN 3.
• Add LAN 4 with subnet 192.168.40.0/24, make LAN 4 a member of VLAN 40 (the
Guest VLAN), and enable the DHCP server for LAN 4.
3. Create the following VLANs on your network switch:
• Add VLAN 20 with the name Employee. As tagged members of VLAN 20, add
the switch port (port 1 in the diagram) that is cabled to the network router as a
trunk port, and do the same for the switch port (port 2 in the diagram) that is
cabled to the Orbi Pro WiFi 6 router.
• Add VLAN 30 with the name IoT. As tagged members of VLAN 30, add the switch
port (port 1 in the diagram) that is cabled to the network router as a trunk port,
and do the same for the switch port (port 2 in the diagram) that is cabled to the
Orbi Pro WiFi 6 router.
