General Information GENERAL INFORMATION INTRODUCTION The operation and maintenance instructions included in this manual are assembled from field testing and other data. The information is written for general conditions. Make adjustments as necessary for specific conditions. Right-hand and left-hand, as used in this manual, is determined by facing the direction the machine will travel when in use.

General Information FIG. 3: The illustration shows the full size bale. The bale density rolls (1) have moved upward, to increase the size of the bale chamber. The bale is on the tailgate carrier roll (2). The bale must now be wrapped with twine or mesh and unloaded.
General Information Tailgate FIG. 5: The tailgate is the rear half section of the bale chamber and is supported by a hinge at the top. The tailgate is operated by two hydraulic cylinders to unload the bale. The tailgate has two forming belt idler rolls and a bale carrier roll.
General Information Bale Density System FIG. 8: The bale density is controlled by two springs (1) and a hydraulic tension system. As the bale increases in size, oil is forced from the rod end of the forming belts tensioning cylinder (2) through a non-adjustable relief valve (3) to the base end.
General Information Lighting and Reflectors FIG. 10: The baler is equipped with a lighting and reflector system. The lighting system includes the lighting wiring harness, seven pin SAE connector and the warning lamps (1). The reflector system includes yellow front reflectors, red rear reflectors (2) and the SMV (slow moving vehicle) emblem (3) mounted on the back of the tailgate.

Replacement signs are available from your dealer in the event of loss or damage. The actual location of the safety signs is illustrated at the end of this section.

General Information OPERATION General Information FIG. 22: When parking, park the machine and the tractor on a solid level surface. Put all controls in neutral, put the tractor transmission in PARK, and apply the tractor parking brake. Stop the tractor engine and take the key with you.
General Information FIG. 24: Stay at least 3.7 m (12 ft) away from the tailgate and kicker at all times. The tailgate and kicker operate faster than you can move away. Always make sure the area around the tailgate and the kicker is clear for at least 3.7 m (12 ft) before opening the tailgate and unloading the bale.
General Information Seat Instructions Securely fasten the seat belt before operating the machine. Always remain seated and have the seat belt fastened while operating the machine. Replace the seat belts when they become worn or broken. Never wear a seat belt loosely or with slack in the belt system.

General Information Frequently remove accumulated crop material from the machine and check for overheated components. Check the machine daily for any noises that are not normal. Such noises could indicate a failed component that can cause excess heat. If any flame cutting, welding, or arc welding is to be done on the machine or attachments, make sure to clear any crop material or debris from around the area.
General Information FIG. 40: Use a piece of cardboard or wood to search for possible leaks. Do not use your bare hand. Wear leather gloves for hand protection and safety goggles for eye protection. Relieve all pressure before loosening any hydraulic lines. Relieve the pressure by lowering raised equipment, shutting off accumulator valve, if equipped, and shutting off the engine.

General Information ROLLER CHAINS FIG. 43: Apply oil to the roller chains (1) every four to six hours. Roller chains must be lubricated frequently to keep their high efficiency and to give long, problem free service. Operating conditions, dirt and temperatures, amount of power made, speed of chain, and lubrication can all change the life of a chain.

General Information GEARBOX FIG. 45: Check the level of the lubricant in the gearbox (1) after every 100 hours of operation. Change the oil in the gearbox after the first 50 hours of operation and then every 250 hours after that. The dipstick (2) and the fill plug (3) are located in the top of the gearbox.

General Information GREASE FITTINGS See the Specifications section for the correct lubricant. Do not let excessive grease collect on or around parts, especially when operating in sandy soil. Be sure to clean the grease fittings thoroughly prior to using the grease gun.
