Unlocking the driver's door (emer-
gency key element)
If the vehicle can no longer be locked or
unlocked with the key or KEYLESS-GO, use
the emergency key element.
Take the emergency key element out of the
X
key (
page 94).
Y
Insert the tip of the emergency key element
X
into the slit of the protective cap in the lock
of the driver's door and turn it until the pro-
tective cap is released.
Insert the emergency key element into the
X
lock of the driver's door as far as it will go.
Turn the emergency key element anti-
X
clockwise as far as it will go to position
1 and hold it in this position.
The locking knob pops up and the door
unlocks.

On right-hand-drive vehicles, turn the
emergency key element clockwise.
Turn the emergency key element back and
X
remove it.
Insert the emergency key element into the
X
key.
Hold the protective cap over the lock of the
X
driver's door with the thicker end towards
the front of the vehicle and press to secure.
Make sure that the slit of the protective cap
is horizontal.
If you use the emergency key element to
unlock and open the driver's door, the anti-
theft alarm system will be triggered. Switch
off the alarm (
page 89).

Locking the vehicle (emergency key
element)
If the vehicle can no longer be locked with the
key or KEYLESS-GO, use the emergency key
element.
Open the driver's door.

Close the front-passenger door, the rear
X
doors and the boot lid.
Press the locking button (
X
Check whether the locking knobs on the
X
front-passenger door and the rear doors
are still visible. Press down the locking
knobs by hand, if necessary.
Close the driver's door.

Take the emergency key element out of the
X
key (
page 94).

If necessary, insert the tip of the emer-
X
gency key element into the slit of the pro-
tective cap in the lock of the driver's door
and turn until the protective cap is
released.
Insert the emergency key element into the
X
lock of the driver's door as far as it will go.
Turn the emergency key element clockwise
X
as far as it will go to position 1.
The locking knob drops down and the driv-
er's door is locked.

On right-hand-drive vehicles, turn the
emergency key element anti-clockwise.
Turn the emergency key element back and
X
remove it.
Make sure that the doors and the boot lid
X
are locked.
