Installation
Reverse the removal procedure.
1. Make sure that the lug (7) on the swingarm is
located in the slot (8) in the brake panel.
2. Adjust the drive chain (page 59).
3. Tighten the rear axle nut to the specified torque:
Rear axle nut torque:
108 N.m (11.0 kgf.m, 80 lbf.ft)
4. Adjust the rear brake pedal freeplay (page 19).
5. Apply the brake several times and check for free
wheel rotation after the brake pedal is released.
If a torque wrench was not used for installation,
see your Honda dealer as soon as possible to verify
proper assembly. Improper assembly may lead to loss
of braking capacity.

Brake Pad Wear

(Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 39.)
Brake pad wear depends upon the severity of usage,
the type of riding, and road conditions. (Generally,
the pads will wear faster on wet and dirty roads.)
Inspect the pads at each regular maintenance interval
(page 40).
Front Brake
Check the cutout (1) in each pad.
If either pad is worn to the cutout, replace both pads
as a set. See your Honda dealer for this service.
