    Image Quality Monitor/Image Quality Monitor Console This manual explains Image Quality Monitor and Image Quality Monitor console. The Image Quality Monitor supports Color Controller E-46, E-86 and TotalFlow Print Server R-62. It does not support Color Controller E-45 or E -85. Image Quality Monitor Image Quality Monitor This is part of the Auto Color Diagnosis Unit.

  • Page 8 • [Correct Output Paper Curl: 1 Sided: Face Up] in Adjustment Settings for Operators Detectable Printing Defects The following defects can be monitored: • Dots / White Spots An image quality problem in the form of either white spots on solid areas, or spots of black or another color on the background.
  • Page 9 Generate the Auto Color Diagnosis property. If the Auto Color Diagnosis property has been generated, start from Step 2. However, if "Generating Paper Properties Again" in Auto Color Diagnosis Guide applies, regenerate the Auto Color Diagnosis property. Specify the detection threshold and other settings using the Image Quality Monitor console.

    TotalFlow Print Server R-62 An error indication appears at the upper left of the screen. In the Operator Message list, select [Details] for the appropriate error message to display details of the error. • This is factory set to suspend printing when a print defect is detected. You can reconfigure the setting to print without suspension.

    1. Operating and Settings How to Connect You can view the Image Quality Monitor Console on your computer using the browser. Using the Ethernet cable, connect the Auto Color Diagnosis Unit and computer. The computer for displaying the console is required. The Ethernet cable is supplied.

Image Quality Monitor Console appears. "192.168.1.2" is the factory-set value. Configure a different IP address for the Auto Color Diagnosis Unit.

    Threshold Setting Threshold Setting This section explains the Threshold Setting tab Menu. Presets The threshold presets for defect monitoring appear. There are factory-set presets and custom presets configured by the user. Factory-Set Presets There are five levels: 1 to 5. The search criteria becomes stricter in ascending order from Level 1 to Level 5.

  • Page 26 1. Operating and Settings For example, when a print defect occurs in the form of a long horizontal streak (in the main scanning direction) as shown in the illustration below, it may be detected as a collection of multiple dot stains or multiple streaks in the main scanning direction.
  • Page 27 Threshold Setting Condition to Stop Printing You can specify whether or not to stop printing with [Number of continuous monitoring pages] and [Number of defective pages]. If [Number of defective pages] in [Number of continuous monitoring pages] exceeds the specified threshold value, printing stops.

Operating and Settings Defect Detection Level Settings for Edges Adjust the detection sensitivity in the edge regions of images and text as well as in their peripheries in the range Level 1 to Level 3. Erroneous detection may occur because of the minute dimensional deviation of the image in the edge regions.

    Threshold Setting Import Use to import the threshold preset from the local network. Export Use to export the threshold preset to the local network. Select the threshold preset with the settings that you want to export, and then click the icon. Use this as well for saving previous settings when editing custom presets.

Click […], and then specify [Add inspection Patterns] from the menu for adding items. It is recommended to add inspection patterns for accurate inspection. When you select a job, its [Defect Details] list appears at the right of the screen. Select the page to be checked from the [Defect Details] list. When you select a page, its image is displayed on the preview screen to allow you to check for print defects.

    2. Troubleshooting In Case of Trouble Image Quality Monitor Console does not appear. Image Quality Monitor Console does not appear if the printer is switched off or is in Energy Saver mode. Check if the printer is switched on. The IP address entered in the browser may be incorrect. If you have forgotten the IP address, contact your service representative.

Troubleshooting • In general, paper that needs to be decurled is unsuitable for Image Quality Monitor. • For details about the advanced settings for custom paper adjustment and Adjustment Settings for Operators, ask the machine administrator. Print defects that should be detected fail to be detected or print defects are detected unnecessarily.
  • Page 45 In Case of Trouble If print defects are not detected in the way you wish even after changing the setting, contact your service representative. An icon indicating that auto detection is unavailable keeps appearing. Contact your service representative.
