    Glossary Bitstream This is the digital form of multi-channel audio data (e.g., 5.1 channel) before it is decoded into its various channels. CPRM (Content Protection for Recordable Media) CPRM is technology used to protect broadcasts that are allowed to be recorded only once. Such broadcasts can be recorded only with CPRM compatible recorders and discs.

    After connecting your DVD Recorder as described on page xx, we now need to enter some information about how you receive TV broadcasts. If further assistance is needed contact Panasonic’s Customer Call Center at 1-800-211-PANA (7262). 1. A few moments after you turn the unit on for the first time a Welcome Screen will introduce you with the TV Guide On Screen system.
  • Page 58 2. Using the UP/DOWN arrow keys on the remote, select the country you live in and press the “ENTER” key to continue. 3. Using either the numeric keypad or the UP/DOWN arrow keys on the remote, enter your zip code. Press the “ENTER” key to continue.

When the unit is powered up you'll see a screen asking you to select the proper channel line-up. A channel line-up is the numerical designations for each station your cable company caries.
  • Page 63 • The TV Guide On Screen system was designed such that all TV viewing would be done using your DVD Recorder to select the channels. When a cable box is used, and the DVD Recorder is placed in the standby mode, the DVD Recorder will cause the cable box to automatically scan channels to search for program data.

In addition to reviewing the list, the user may also remove the shows, change the frequency or modify the start/end times (only when recording) of the shows selected.
  • Page 68 PROMOTIONS MODE • The [PROMOTIONS] mode provides the user with a list of promotional items that have appeared as Panel Ads or Channel banners during the current day. The list also displays the TV Guide On Screen “FEATURES” and “USING…” panels displayed prior to initial listings download.
  • Page 69 CHANGE CHANNEL DISPLAY MODE • The [Change Channel Display] mode allows the user to customize the list of channels displayed on-screen by turning the channels ON or OFF. Additionally, the user has the option of changing the assigned channel to a different position on the LISTINGS grid.

During the data download the station from which data is downloaded had an unscheduled outage. If using an off-air antenna, marginal poor reception can cause some of the data to be missed.
