Installation checkout: Make sure that all switches are in
their proper position: PTO switch off, Neutral switches
activated. (T-levers centered).
Step 1:
Check out the battery. Use a hydrometer on all the
battery cells to see if one or more is bad. Also use a
voltmeter to check for proper voltage. Replace the
battery if necessary and/or charge to proper level.
Use a voltmeter to make sure you have power to
terminal B in the off position on the back of the key
switch. If you don't have power to terminal B, check the
30-amp fuse.
Step 2:
With the key switch in the START position see that
power has been transferred from terminal B to terminal
A. Terminal A supplies power to the PTO switch,
neutral switches, and terminal S2 to crank the engine.
Power is also routed through the diode to activate start/
kill relay and provide power to the fuel solenoid to keep
the engine running.
Step 3:
With the key in the RUN position, verify power has
been transferred to terminal A. Terminal A supplies
power to the seat relay (terminals 30 & 86) and to the
seat switch.
From the seat relay, power is transferred to the PTO
switch, start/kill relay and fuel solenoid to keep the
engine running.
NOTE: The engine kill circuit is connected to terminal
87A of the relay. The engine will shut down when
power at the relay is stopped or interrupted.
Clutch Check:
Remove clutch lead from the PTO. Check clutch with a
digital volt meter for field resistance to see if coil is
good (2.98 OHMS ± 5%). Current amperage is 4.03. If
reading is out of spec., high or low, replace clutch.
Readings will be affected when clutch is hot.
