■ Absolute humidity refers to the amount of water vapor present per unit volume of air, regardless of the
temperature, expressed in grams per cubic meter (g/m
Relative humidity is the humidity usually used. It refers to the ratio of the actual amount of water vapor in
the air to the total amount of water vapor in the air at saturation at a given temperature, expressed as a
percentage (%).
Precautions on using the seasonal influenza index
● The seasonal influenza index indicator only shows environments where seasonal influenza viruses are
likely or unlikely to thrive, assumed based on absolute humidity. Therefore, it does not guarantee the
existence or nonexistence of viruses. Please use it as a guideline for preventing infection.
● This unit does not cover new types of influenza.
