Troubleshooting
Charging
You cannot charge the battery by connecting the IC recorder to your computer.
 When you connect the IC recorder to a computer which is not running, the battery
will not be charged. Even if the computer is on, and the computer is in a mode of
reduced operation (standby or sleep), you cannot charge the battery.
 "USB Charge" is set to "OFF" in the menu.
 To charge the battery using your computer, set it to "ON" (  p. 91).
 Disconnect the IC recorder from your computer and reconnect it.
The charging indicator is not displayed or disappears in the middle of charging.
 A rechargeable battery has not been inserted, or a battery other than a rechargeable
battery (alkaline battery, manganese battery, etc.) has been inserted.
 A rechargeable battery has been inserted with incorrect polarity.
 The USB connector of the IC recorder is not connected properly.
 While playing back files using the built-in speaker or listening to the FM radio
(ICD-UX522F/UX523F only), you cannot charge the battery.
 The rechargeable battery has deteriorated.
 Replace the old rechargeable battery with a new one.

 The environmental temperature is out of the range for charging. Charge the battery
in an environment with a temperature of 5 °C - 35 °C (41 °F - 95 °F).
Operating
The IC recorder does not operate correctly.
 Take out the battery and insert it again.
 You may have formatted the memory of the IC recorder using the computer.
 Use the IC recorder formatting function to format the memory (  p. 92).
The operation indicator does not light.
 "LED" is set to "OFF. "
 Display the menu and set "LED" to "ON" (  p. 89).
