The wireless settings to configure on the client are similar to what a wireless user
needs to use a wireless access point. The information entered is the broadcast
information from the access point, and enables the FortiWiFi client to be on the
wireless network.
To configure the wireless settings
1
Go to System > Wireless > Settings.
2
Select the WLAN interface.
3
Complete the following and select Apply:
SSID
Security Mode
Key/Pre-shared Key
Configure the IP address and routing for the WLAN port.
To configure the port address
1
Go to System > Wireless > Settings.
2
Select the WLAN interface.
Select Manual to configure a static IP.
or
If your access point is also a DHCP server, you can use it to set the address and
the default gateway.

Set the default gateway

The default gateway is the next hop for data packets leaving the FortiWiFi unit.
You need to add the default gateway to ensure traffic will get out to the Internet. In
this case, it is the wireless (WLAN) port of the access point.
If you configured the WLAN port for DHCP, you can configure the default gateway
automatically.
For details on configuring the gateway see
on page
19.
You need to add at least two firewall policies to enable the flow of traffic from the
wireless port (your wireless connection to the access point to the external network
and the Internet) to the Internal ports (the local network users).
First, create an incoming firewall policy that allows traffic from the internal ports to
the wireless port, so wireless users can receive data to the Internet.
To create and outgoing firewall policy
1
Go to Firewall > Policy.
2
Select the blue arrow for WLAN to Internal.
3
Select Create New.
Enter the SSID of the access point you are connecting to.
Select the security type for the access point connection.
Enter the key or pre-shared key for the access point.
