• Clean the oil fill area of any debris.
• Remove the dipstick (A, Figure 2) and wipe with a
clean cloth.
• Insert and tighten the dipstick.

Fuel Recommendations

Fuel must meet these requirements:
• Clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with
• A minimum of 87 octane / 87AKI (90 RON).
• Gasoline with up to 10% ethanol (gasahol) or up to 15%
• CAUTION: DO NOT use unapproved gasoline, such as E85.
The engine on this equipment is certified to operate on
gasoline. The emissions control system for this engine is EM
(Engine Modifications).
High Altitude
At altitudes over 5,000 feet (1524 meters), a minimum 85
octane/85 AKI (89 RON) gasoline is acceptable. To remain
emissions compliant, high altitude adjustment is required.
Operation without this adjustment will cause decreased
performance, increased fuel consumption, and increased
emissions.
Operation of the engine at altitudes below 2,500 feet (762
meters) with the high altitude kit is not recommended.

5. Add fuel to the tank:
• Make sure the mower is outside, where fumes can
safely dissipate.
• Remove the fuel fill cap (C, Figure 2).
• Fill the tank with fuel. Refer to the section entitled 'Fuel
Recommendations'. To allow for expansion of the fuel,
do not fill above the bottom of the filler neck (D).
• Reinstall the fuel fill cap.
6. Clean the exterior surfaces of the cutting deck and
engine of any accumulation of spilled fuel, dirt, grass,
oil, etc. Keep the engine air intake screen and cooling
fins clear at all times.
7. Charge the battery. Refer to the section entitled
"Charging the Battery".
MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) is acceptable.
Do not mix oil in gasoline or modify the engine to run on
alternative fuels. This will damage the engine components
and void the engine warranty.
