Grandstream HT503
The Grandstream HT503 ATA is a single port FXO and single port FXS device packaged together in a compact chassis.
This device may be utilized for many purposes:
• Analog Backup line for incoming and outgoing calls on FXO port
• Local or Remote Fax on FXS port
• Local or remote phone on FXS port
The FXO and FXS ports operate independently of each other. For example, the HT503 can provide phone or fax service
on the FXS port while simultaneously providing an analog back up connection on the FXO port.
Overview of the Installation Process:
The HT503 is normally pre-configured for use with our StarSystem Hybrid telephone system. In most cases, the install-
er can connect the HT503 to the customer's network along with the appropriate analog telephone connections.
If the provided configuration needs to be changed, it is possible to field-program the HT503 using the instructions
detailed later in this document.
Connecting the HT503:
The rear panel of the HT503 has a power connection, two RJ11 telephone connectors, and two RJ45 network connec-
tors, as shown in this picture:

  • Page 2 Connection for an FXO (Office) device, usually an analog phone line for backup operation Note that the LAN port is only used to access the HT503’s built-in configuration server from a connected laptop. This is necessary to perform the initial configuration. After the device is configured, the LAN cable can be disconnected.
