Ice-O-Matic Pearl Ice GEM Series Cleaning And Sanitizing Instructions

IOM recommends cleaning and sanitizing be performed every 6 months
but no more than once per month.
CAUTION: Do not perform these cleaning procedures unless you are
wearing protective eyewear and gloves.
Before beginning the cleaning and sanitizing process, all ice must be
removed from the ice bin.
Cleaning the Ice Machine.
1.
Remove all ice from the bin or dispenser.
2.
Remove front panel by removing 2 Philips head screws.
3.
Remove Air Filer by lifting the filter upward.
4.
Turn ICE/OFF Switch to the OFF position
5.
Remove the cover from the water reservoir and turn water off to
prevent water from entering the reservoir.
6.
Use the drain tube to remove the water from the reservoir and
evaporator by unclipping the tube and removing the plug from the
end of the tube. Drain the water into the bin or a bucket. Return
the drain tube to its normal position and replace the end cap.
7.
Mix approved nickel-safe ice machine cleaner (diluted per
manufacturer's instructions) to yield one gallon of cleaning solution
and pour into the water trough. Refer to
approved chemical formulations.
8.
Slowly pour the cleaning solution into the water reservoir until full.
Allow cleaner to soak for 15 minutes .
9.
Turn ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
10. The ice machine will begin to make ice with the cleaning solution.
Continue to add more cleaning solution to maintain a full reservoir.
11. After all of the cleaning solution has been used and the reservoir
has about ½" of solution remaining, turn the ON/OFF switch to the
OFF position.
12. Wash the water reservoir with remaining cleaner then drain the
water reservoir and evaporator assembly with the drain tube.
13. Rinse the water system by filling the reservoir with fresh water and
draining the water again. Repeat this step.
14. Return the drain tube to its normal position and replace the drain
plug end cap.
Sanitizing the Ice Machine is required after cleaning.
15. Mix approved sanitizer (diluted per manufacturer's instructions) to
yield one gallon of sanitizing solution.
16. Slowly pour the sanitizing solution into the water reservoir until full.
17. Repeat steps 9 through 13 above.
18. Rinse the water system 2 additional times to ensure all sanitizer has
been removed.
19. Return the drain tube to its normal position and replace the drain
plug end cap.
20. Turn ON/OFF switch to the ON position and allow the machine to
make ice for a minimum of 15 minutes to ensure all sanitizer has
been removed from the reservoir and discarding the ice.
Remove and discard all ice in the storage bin. DO NOT USE any ice
produced from the cleaning or sanitizing solution.
Proceed to side 2 for Bin and filter cleaning.
