    ˆ Preparation CONNECTING POWER You can power your cassette player with any of three power sources: • internal battery power • standard AC power (with an optional AC adapter) • vehicle battery power (with an optional DC adapter) Installing Batteries You can use two AA batteries (not supplied) to power your cassette player.
  • Page 5 Follow these steps to install batteries. 1. Pull up the cassette latch, then pull open the cas- sette compartment door. 2. Push the battery compartment door’s tab in the direction of the arrow. The battery compartment opens. Caution: The battery compartment door is attached to the cassette player.
  • Page 6 Using AC Power You can power the cassette player using a regulated 3V, 300-mA AC adapter and a size H Adaptaplug™ adapter (neither supplied). Both are available at your local RadioShack store. Cautions: You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies 3V DC and delivers at least 300 mA.
  • Page 7 4. Plug the adapter’s other end into a standard AC outlet. Notes: • Internal batteries (if installed) automatically dis- connect when you plug an AC adapter into the cassette player. • Disconnect the AC adapter and reinsert the rub- ber plug into the jack when you are not DC 3V using the cassette player.
  • Page 8 • Always connect the DC adapter to the cassette player before you connect it to the power source. When you finish, disconnect the adapter from the power source before you disconnect it from the cassette player. Follow these steps to connect the cassette player to vehicle battery power.

    Traffic Safety Do not wear an earphone or headphones while oper- ating a motor vehicle or riding a bicycle. This can cre- ate a traffic hazard and could be illegal in some areas. Even though some earphones or headphones let you hear some outside sounds when listening at normal volume levels, they still can present a traffic hazard.

    Handle the cassette player gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage cir- cuit boards and cases and can cause the cassette player to work improperly. Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type. Batteries can leak chemicals that damage your cassette player’s electronic parts.
