10. HOW TO UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE
OTA - Hotbird
NOTE
On a regular basis, EchoStar offers software updates via satellite and the EchoStar
website (where we also announce new software releases and related documentation).
If you have trouble to get a download with the latest software version, please ask your
retail seller or dealer for assistance

UPGRADE SEQUENCE WHICH CAN DAMAGE THE RECEIVER PERMANENTLY

F YOU WANT TO DO A
S
OFTWARE UPGRADE BY
1. Press the MENU key and
select the Installation
setup - Software upgrade.
2. Read the help text.
3. Select OTA settings:
a. Factory1 for Hotbird;
b. Factory2 for Astra1;
c. User for (not used).
4. Make sure the signal
indicator shows a signal.
5. Select Start.
6. Press the OK key to start
the procedure:
a. the TV screen turns
black:
b. If the there is no new
EchoNAV version,
nothing happens.
c. If a new EchoNAV
version is found on the
satellite, the receiver
starts to download the
new EchoNAV version.
This process can take
up to approximately
30 minutes.
7. The Software upgrade is
completed when the TV
shows live video.

1. Press the MENU key and
select the Installation
setup - About EchoStar.
2. Read the help text.
3. Look up the current:
a. EchoNAV version.
b. Internet site.
4. On your PC with Internet
access, visit our Internet
site.
5. Go to the Product support
area and find the software
for your receiver.
6. Download the latest
software as applicable for
your receiver.
7. Find the utilities link and
download the EchoNAV
loader.
8. Follow the instructions as
given in the zip-file.
9. Note that on our Internet
site, a new manual update
is available to cover the
latest features.

ACTORY RESET
(recommended after a
Software upgrade to activate
the new satellite and
transponder database):
1. Write down the most
important settings before
you Confirm the Factory
reset (e.g. Switch and
Port settings, LNBs, User
preferences, etc.).
2. Press the MENU key and
select the Installation
setup - Factory reset.
3. Read the help text.
4. Select User settings: Yes.
5. Select Confirm.
6. Press the OK key to start
the procedure:
7. Continue with the initial
installation to install your
receiver.
