Brake system - Edition 04.2019
– Press down red retainer catch.
Tighten connections of all brake lines to hydraulic unit and brake
master cylinder.
– After tightening brake lines, tighten hydraulic unit -1-.
– Remove brake pedal actuator - V.A.G 1869/2- .
– Bleed brake system
– Code ABS with EDL control unit - J104- . ⇒ Code control unit
using VAS 5051 via "Guided fault finding" function.
– When renewing the control unit, select the function "Replace"
for the relevant control unit in the "Guided Fault Finding".
To do so, use the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information sys‐
tem - VAS 5051B- or -VAS 5052.- .
– Perform final control diagnosis after attaching brake lines to
hydraulic unit. ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information
system - VAS 5051B- or -VAS 5052-
Note
The final control diagnosis indicates whether the connection has
been interchanged.
Tightening torques
Component
Brake lines to hydraulic unit M10 (brake line di‐
ameter 5 mm)
Brake lines to hydraulic unit M12 (brake line di‐
ameter 5 mm)
Brake lines to hydraulic unit M12 (brake line di‐
ameter 8 mm)
Caution
Make sure that the brakes work properly before the vehicle is
driven on the road.
