  • Page 15 Six-Way Power Seat (OPTION) To adjust the driver’s six-way power seat: Front Control Raise the front of the seat by holding the switch up. Hold the switch down to lower the front of the seat. Center Control (B): Move the seat forward or back by holding the control to the front or back.
  • Page 16 Seats & Restraint Svstems Head Restraints Slide the head restraint up or down so that that the top of the restraint is closest to the top of your ears. This position reduces the chance of a neck injury in a crash.
  • Page 17 Removable Rear Bucket Seats There are three types of rear bucket seats: RIGHT ONLY, CENTER LEFT, and LEFT ONLY. RIGHT ONLY and LEFT ONLY seats may be equipped with the built-in child restraint option. The rear bucket seats can be removed to provide extra storage.

    Seats & Restraint Systems Safety Belt Reminder Light When the key is turned to Run or Start, a chime will come on for about eight seconds to remind people to fasten their safety belts, unless the driver’s safety belt is already buckled. The safety belt light will also come on and stay on until the driver’s belt is buckled.

The system checks for electrical malfunctions, and the light tells you if there is a problem. You will see this light flash for a few seconds when you turn your ignition to Run or Start.

    Seats & Restraint Systems Safety Belt Use During Pregnancy Safety belts work for everyone, including pregnant women. Like all occupants, they are more likely to be seriously injured if they don’t wear safety belts. A pregnant woman should wear a lap- shoulder belt, and the lap portion should be worn as low as possible throughout the pregnancy.
  • Page 33 Pick up the latch plate and, in a single motion, pull the belt across you. Don’t let it get twisted. Push the latch plate into the buckle until it clicks. If the belt stops before it reaches the buckle, let it go back all the way and start again.

    If you need to have an anchor bracket installed for any additional passenger seat position, you can ask your Oldsmobile dealer to put it in for you. If you want to install an anchor bracket yourself, your dealer can tell you how to do it.

    To tighten the belt, feed it back into the retractor while you push down on the child restraint. Push and pull the child restraint in different directions to be sure it is secure. To remove the child restraint, just unbuckle the vehicle's safety belt and let it go back all the way.

    Wherever the child sits, the lap portion of the belt should be worn low and snug on the hips, just touching the child’s thighs. This applies belt force to the child’s pelvic bones in a crash. Safety Belt Extender If the vehicle’s safety belt will fasten around you, you should use it.

  • Page 46 If you lose your keys, you’ll be able to have new ones made easily using these plugs. NOTICE: Your Oldsmobile has a number of new features that can help prevent theft. But you can have a lot of trouble getting into your vehicle if you ever lock your keys inside.
  • Page 47 Door Locks There are several ways to lock and Front Doors unlock your vehicle. From the Outside: Use your door key or remote lock control transmitter, if your vehicle has this option.

  • Page 52 Vehicle theft is big business, especially in some cities. Although your Oldsmobile has a number of theft deterrent features, we know that nothing we put on it can make it impossible to steal. However, there are ways you can help.
  • Page 53 Parking at Night Park in a lighted spot, close all windows and lock your vehicle. Remember to keep your valuables out of sight. Put them in a storage area, or take them with you. Parking Lots If you park in a lot where someone will be watching your vehicle, it's best to lock it up and take your keys.

Press in the ignition switch as you turn the top of it toward you. Lock: The only position in which you can remove the ltey.

If you need more power for passing, and you’re: Going less than about mph (56 km/h), push your accelerator pedal about halfway down.

  • Page 79 Windshield Wipers The windshield wiper and washer controls are located to the right of the instrument cluster. For a Single Wiper Cycle: Press the switch marked MIST and release. For more cycles, press and hold the switch. For Pulse Delay Wiper Cycles: The pulse delay cycle system allows you to set the wiper speed as slow as seconds between cycles, or faster.
  • Page 80 Feutuves & Conlrok To Turn the Wipers Off Slide the upper control to the OFF position. Remember that damaged wiper blades may prevent you from seeing well enough to drive safely. To avoid damage, be sure to clear ice and snow from the wiper blades before using them.
  • Page 81 NOTICE: When using concentrated washer fluid, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for adding water. Don’t mix water with ready-to- use washer fluid. Water can cause the solution to freeze and damage your washer fluid tank and other parts of the washer system. Also, water doesn’t clean as well as washer fluid.
  • Page 82 Controls & Features Reading Lights To turn on or off either reading light, press the switch next to it. To adjust the aim of the lights, pivot the lamps in their sockets. Garage Door Opener Compartment You can store your garage door opener in the front compartment of your overhead console, and operate it from this position.
  • Page 83 3. To make sure the button on your garage door opener is centered above the button on the compartment door, use the intersecting lines on the Velcro@ inside the Compartment as a guide. Center the control button of your garage door opener over the point where the lines intersect, and press the opener firmly into place.
  • Page 84 Features & Controls If the outside temperature is 37" F (3" C) or lower when you turn on the ignition, ICE will appear briefly on the display. It's there to caution the driver that road conditions may be icy and that appropriate precautions should be taken.

  • Page 92 Features & Controls Storage Locking At the base of the center instrument panel console is a storage bin. Use the door key to lock and unlock it. To open the bin, pinch the latch release. To remove the bin for cleaning, open it part way, then pull out and slightly up.
  • Page 93 If you have the optional rear climate control, your side ashtray will have a flip-up cover. To remove the ashtray for cleaning, pull up on the snuffer or the cover. Convenience Net (OPTION) The optional convenience net is designed to help keep small loads, like grocery bags, from falling over during sharp turns or quick stops and starts.

Turn the tiedowns cloclnvise to tighten them in place. Tiedowns may be removed and used in the adjustable tapped plates in the crossrails.

  • Page 99 The Instrument Panel-Your Information System Your instrument panel is designed to let you know at glance how your vehicle is running. You’ll know how fast you’re going, how much fuel you’re using, and to drive many other things you’ll need safely and economically.
