Note
During a background format, the CLOSE indicator located in the
upper right corner of the Home screen will flash. When the for-
mat is complete, the CLOSE indicator turns off.
Caution
Start recording when the background format operation is com-
plete. If you start recording during the background format, the
unit may try to record data to an unformatted area.
Do not remove the disc before the background format operation
is complete. Do not insert such a disc into a disc drive on a com-
puter. Otherwise, the computer's disc drive may resume the
background format using a different format.
Do not insert a disc formatted on a computer into the DV-
RA1000's disc drive. Be sure to format discs on the DV-RA1000
before using them with the DV-RA1000.
Preference settings
The DV-RA1000 preference now includes the keyboard type,
backlight LCD brightness, and DSD seamless playback to
improve your operational environment.

While the home screen is displayed, press the MENU key.

Select SYSTEM SETUP, then press ENTER.

Select PREFERENCE, then press ENTER.
The unit displays the Preference screen.

Use the F1 - F4 keys (cursor keys) to highlight an item you
wish to set on the screen.

Rotate the wheel to set the KEYBOARD TYPE parameter to US or
JPN.
• The US option selects an English (ASCII) keyboard.
• The JPN option selects a Japanese (JIS) keyboard.
Select the desired option, then press ENTER to confirm your
selection.

Adjusting the brightness of the backlight LCD
Rotate the wheel to select the LCD BRIGHTNESS value in the
range of 1 through 6. The minimum brightness is 1 and the maxi-
mum brightness is 6.
Note
Pressing ENTER or HOME will confirm the brightness setting.
Press CANCEL to cancel the setting.
Setting DSD seamless playback
Rotate the wheel to set the DSD SEAMLESS PLAY parameter to
ON or OFF.
If you select OFF, a silence of about 2 ms will be inserted
between the tracks during playback.
If you select ON, the unit plays back the tracks seamlessly, skip-
ping a silence of 2 ms between the tracks.
After you select the desired option, press ENTER to confirm your
selection.
Note
A DSDIFF file of a track recorded by the track increment function
in DSD mode contains a silence of 2ms at the beginning of the
recorded signal.
If you play back these track files as they are, you will notice a
silence between each track. If you turn on the seamless play
function, this silence will be skipped.
