Overall System Description

Reference Figures 7-1
All audio inputs are routed through the A1-Board. The A1-Board contains
all audio switching and audio processing circuits. IC9602 (Analog Audio
Switch) is the analog audio switcher on the A1-Board. The only audio
inputs not switched by IC9602 are as follows. These audio inputs are
digital and are switched through IC9400 (Digital Audio Switch( on the
A1-Board) and applied directly to IC9304 (DSP).
ATSC Tuner
HDMI
Note that the DVI audio, which is analog is applied to the analog audio
switch IC9602.
Audio Input 2 is first applied to the H3-Board and then to the A1-Board
and IC9602.
The NTSC and ATSC tuners are located on the QT-Baord. The ATSC
tuner IF signal is sent to the QM-Board and processed by the ATI
microprocessor. There are two audio outputs from the QM-Board (Main
ATSC and SPDIF). These two signals pass through the B1-Board before
being applied to the A1-Board. The Main ATSC signal is for all digital
broadcasts and the SPDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital Interface) is only present
at the Optical Output when a High-Definition (HD) broadcast is being
received
The analog switcher IC9602 single output (analog audio single) is applied
to the DSP IC9304 where it is A/D (analog to digital) converted. The
output digital signal is in the I2S (or PCM) format. The I2S signal is
applied to the Digital Amplifier IC9804. IC9804 internally converters the
I2C signal into a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) format. IC9804 outputs
the PWM signal, which is then applied to a Low-pass filter circuit. The
low-pass filter circuit recovers the original audio signal, which is applied
to the speakers.
