5.7 Filling

After installation the LATENTO is filled via the fill/drain valve. To do so, open the
cover for the optional electric heating rod, to allow the displaced air to escape
during filling.
Note when using the electric heating rod:
Unscrew the heating rod from the thread to such an extent that the displaced air
can escape.
Pour in water until the float on the sight glass reaches the 20 °C mark. In general,
the temperature of the water used for filling is between 10 and 20 °C. In this
temperature range, the difference in volume is small enough to allow filling up to
the 20 °C mark. At temperatures of the water used for filling below 10 °C, filling
should be completed at a level below the 20 °C mark.
After reaching the level, the fill cock must be closed again. Likewise, the cover for
the optional electric heating rod must be closed or the electric heating rod must
be screwed in again.

5.8 Emptying

If the LATENTO needs to be emptied, this can also be done via the fill/drain valve
on the storage tank cover.
The fill/drain cock is provided on the inside of the storage tank with an immer-
sion tube that reaches up to the tank bottom. This allows the LATENTO to be
emptied using a hose or via gravity (siphon principle) or via a pump.
To do so, as during filling, the cover for the optional electric heating rod must be
opened or the electric heating rod must be unscrewed from the thread, to avoid
the formation of a vacuum inside the storage tank.

6. Avoiding heat losses

You can operate the system as economic as can be also by avoiding heat losses.
Aside from insulating all heating pipes and fittings, there are further measures
possible to avoid heat losses:
The installation of a thermal siphon prevents circulation in the piping system.
Set the timer programs for heating and hot water to the usage times.
