Check Transmission Oil Level

NOTE: The model of the transmission can be determined
from the small identification tag located on the axle or
from the tractor parts book.
K71 MODELS
Transmission Oil Type: SAE 10W-30 with a minimum
NOTE: Lift cylinder should be extended.
1. Slide the seat assembly back to access the plastic
plug in the top of the seat deck (see Figure 7).
Remove the plug.
2. Clean the area around the expansion chamber. Open
the lid and check that there is oil present in the bot-
tom of the expansion chamber. If there is no oil pre-
sent, add 10W-30 SG engine oil until the oil level is
7/16" (1 cm) above the bottom. DO NOT OVERFILL.
Empty space is required in the expansion chamber for
heat expansion.
K66 & K62 MODELS
Transmission Oil Type: SAE 10W-30 with a minimum
Transmission Oil Capacity: Apx. 2.6 qt (2,5L).
The transmission oil level can be checked at the access
hole located behind the left rear wheel (K66 see Figure 8)
or at the reservoir located on top of the transmission (K62
models). Shine a light at the back of the expansion
chamber to see the oil level. There should be approxi-
mately 7/16" (1 cm) of oil in the chamber. If there is no
oil in the chamber, add oil using the following procedure.
1. Disconnect the seat switch wire harness. Remove
the wire harness from the clip.
2. Move the seat slide to access the two top seat deck
capscrews (B, Figure 9). Remove the capscrews.
3. Remove the gas cap.
4. Remove the capscrew and nut securing the cruise
control lever knob (A). Remove the knob.
5. Remove the four bolts securing the front of the seat
deck to the footrests.
6. Label and disconnect the fuel gauge sending wires.
7. Remove the seat deck.
8. Slide the fuel tank out of the way.
9. Clean the area around the transmission oil reservoir.
Remove the cap and add oil until there is approxi-
mately 7/16" (1 cm) of oil in the reservoir.
Reinstall components in reverse order of disassembly.
Be sure to reconnect the seat safety switch.
