ment- After turning the handle (B) one revolution place it
in the engaged position to check it for correct adjustment-
The correct engaged position is as shown in figure 16, with
the handle at approximately the one o'clock position as
you face it from the front of the tractor,
4, After the correct adjustment has been made, use a wrench
to tighten nut [A) securely by turning it counter-clockwise,
TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SAFETY
START SWITCH
If the engine starter will not actuate when the transmission
shift lever is in neutral or will actuate when the transmission
shift lever is not in the neutral position, the neutraE safety
starting switch may need adjusting. The power take off
lever (s) must be disengaged before the starter will operate
also. Adjust the transmission safety start switch as follows:
1. Raise the seat deckas explained on page 9 under Raising
the Seat Deck.
2- Place the transmission shift lever in the neutral START
position.
3. See figure 17. The neutral safety start switch is properly
adjusted when it is centered on surface (C) and depressed
□bout 1/16" to 1/3", The two nuts (A) may be turned
clockwise or counter-clockwise to lower or raise the safety
switch and bracket (B) is slotted to allow it to be centered
on surface (C). After adjusting the neutral safety switch
place a film of grease on surface (C) where it contacts the
switch-
4, Tighten the two nuts (A) against mounting bracket (B),
5, Lower the seat deck.
6. Cheek the adjustment by starting the tractor.
POWER TAKE-OFF CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
See figure 18. The power take off clutch is properly adjusted
when pulley (A) moves 1/S" when the power take off com
trol lever is engaged and disengaged.
If adjustment is re¬
quired, proceed as follows:
1. Raise the scat deck, by following the instructions on page
9 under Raising the Seat Deck,
2. Place the power take off clutch control lever [figure 2,
item C) in the engaged position,
3. Observe the movement of pulleys (A) in relation to cup

(B) as the power take off control is moved slowly from the
engaged to disengaged position. If the pulleys [A) move more
or less than 1/6', adjustment is required-
4- Turn the rear most nut at (CJ counterclockwise to loo^
sen it slightly. To increase the amount pulley (A) travels him
the nuts at (G) clockwise. To decrease travel of pulley (A),
turn the nuts counter-clockwise. Adjust the nuts at (C) and
observe the travel of pulleys [A] as the power take off lever
is engaged and disengaged. When adjustment has been made
so the pulley (A) travels 1/8" Lighten the rear most nut al
(C) against the forward nut to lock them in place,
5, Recheck your adjustment.
6. Lower the seat deck.
POWER TAKE-OFF NEUTRAL SAFETY
START SWITCH
If the engine starter will not actuate when the power take
off lever (s) are disengaged and the transmission shift lever
is in neutral, or will actuate when Lhe power take off lever
is in the engaged position, the power take off neutral safety
starting switch may need adjusting. It is located under the
tractor frame, but since the tractor frame is open on the
bottom, it can be easily reached from under the tractor. If
adjustment is required proceed as follows:
1T Place the power take off control lever (figure 2, item C)
in the disengaged position. ■
2, See figure 19. Locate the safety switch fD) which is lo¬
cated under the tractor frame,
3, See figure 19. The safety switch can be moved up or
down by turning the two nuts (A) clockwise or counter¬
clockwise, or forward or back by sliding it in the stot in
mounting bracket (B).
4, Adjust the safety switch so it is centered on the cam sur¬
face (C) and the end of the switch moved abont 1/81 when
the power take off control lever is moved from the disen-
