2. Set the backing plate (s) to the appropriate
position (up, flush or down).
3. Tighten the knob (i).
PREPARING THE HONING BELT FOR USE
Leather honing belts must be dressed before first
use and when the honing effect decreases.
With the machine switched off, spread a thin and
even coating of honing paste over the entire outside
surface of the belt.
Mounting the Spark Guard (fi g. 6, 7)
The spark guard offers additional protection from
sparks and must be used whenever possible.
1. Fit the transparent screen (x) to the spark guard
(f) by inserting a mushroom head bolt (y) into
the screen and the guard and placing a washer
(z) and nut (aa) onto the bolt (fig. 6). Tighten the
nut.
2. Hold the spark guard against the edge on top
of the wheel case (bb) as shown (fig. 7).
3. Insert a mushroom head bolt (cc) into the guard
and the wheel case.
4. Place a washer (dd) and nut (ee) onto the bolt
and tighten the nut hand-tight.
5. Position the guard at a distance of approx.
2 mm from the wheel by sliding it towards the
wheel.
6. Securely tighten the nut (torque: 6 Nm).
Adjusting the Workpiece Support
(fi g. 8)
The workpiece support can be set according to the
workpiece and the desired grinding angle.
1. Slacken the nut holding the support (c).
2. Set the support to the desired position and
angle, making sure that the support is as close
to the wheel as possible.
3. Tighten the nut (torque: 6 Nm).
Mounting and Adjusting the
Clamping and Grinding Attachment
(fi g. 1, 9)
The clamping and grinding attachment is used to
hold the workpiece to the grinding wheel at a fixed
angle.
1. Remove the fasteners holding the workpiece
support (c) to the bracket (d) and remove the
workpiece support (fig. 1).

2. Mount the grinding attachment bracket (ff) to
the bracket (d) on the machine as shown using
the hexagonal head bolt (gg) and corresponding
nut (hh) (fig. 9). Make sure that the grinding
attachment bracket is at a distance of approx.
2 mm from the grinding wheel.
3. Insert the rod (ii) of the grinding attachment into
the forks on the grinding attachment bracket as
shown.
OPERATION
Instructions for Use
WARNING: Always observe the safety
instructions and applicable regulations.
WARNING: To reduce the risk
of serious personal injury, turn
tool off and disconnect tool from
power source before making any
adjustments or removing/installing
attachments or accessories.
Refer to figure 12 for proper body stance and hand
positioning when grinding and honing.
Switching On and Off (fi g. 1)
To turn the tool on, set the on/off switch (a) to
position 1.
To turn the tool off, set the on/off switch (a) to
position 0.
Using the Grinding Wheel (fi g. 1)
In order to achieve a straight cutting edge, move it
slowly backwards and forwards over the grinding
wheel (b). Only exert a light pressure.
Using the Clamping and Grinding
Attachment (fi g. 10)
1. Insert the workpiece into the clamping
bracket (jj).
2. Position the workpiece as required to obtain the
correct bevel angle. The angle is a function of
the protruding length X (see figure). For plane
irons, X should be approx. 20 mm, for chisels
approx. 25–28 mm.
3. Tighten the star knobs (kk).
Using the Grinding or Honing Belt
(fi g. 11)
1. Hold the cutting edge of the workpiece in the
direction of rotation as indicated by the arrow (v)
on the machine.
