5 Preparing KombiMotor for Operation

5 Preparing KombiMotor for Operation
5.1

Getting the KombiEngine ready for use

The following steps must be carried out every time before
starting work:
► Make sure that the following components are in a safe
condition:
– KombiEngine, @ 4.6.
– KombiTool as described in this Instruction Manual of the
KombiTool.
– Battery as described in the STIHL AR battery Instruction
Manual or in the "AP belt bag with connection cable"
Instruction Manual.
► Check battery as described in the STIHL AR battery
Instruction Manual or in the "AP belt bag with connection
cable" Instruction Manual.
► Fully charge the battery as described in the Instruction
Manual for chargers STIHL AL 101, 300, 500.
► Clean the KombiEngine, @ 15.

► Mounting the loop handle, @ 6.1.

► If a FS-KM is used with a metal cutting attachment or an
RG-KM: Fit barrier bar, @ 6.2.
► Fit the KombiTool as described in this Instruction Manual
of the KombiTool.
► Place and adjust the STIHL AR battery, carrying system or
"AP belt bag with connecting cord",@ 7.
► Adjust the loop handle, , @ 7.4.
► Check controls, @ 10.1.
► If 3 LEDs on the battery flash red while checking the
controls: Disconnect the plug of the connecting cord
from the socket and consult a STIHL servicing dealer.
There is a fault in the KombiEngine.
► If it is not possible to carry out these steps: Do not use the
KombiEngine and consult a STIHL servicing dealer.

6 Assembling the KombiMotor

6.1
Mounting the Loop Handle
► Switch off the KombiMotor and pull the connecting cable
plug out of the socket.

► Fit the clamp (4) in the loop handle (3).
► Place the loop handle (3) with clamp (4) on the drive tube
(5).
► Fit washers (2) on the screws (1).
► Hold the clamp (6) against the drive tube (5).
► Insert screws (1) through holes in loop handle (3) and
clamps (4 and 6).
► Fit and tighten down the nuts (7) firmly.
The loop handle must not be removed again.
6.2

Mounting Loop Handle with Barrier Bar

► Switch off the KombiMotor and pull the connecting cable
plug out of the socket.
