Installing the MultiPASS C5500 Software
The MultiPASS C5500 comes with the following software: MultiPASS C5500 Printer
Driver, MultiPASS Desktop Manager for Windows 98/95, ScanGear for MultiPASS, and
Canon Creative Pro.
You install the MultiPASS C5500 software from the Canon Creative Pro CD located in
your Canon Creative Pro packet. Once all the software is installed, you have access to all
the printing, scanning, copying, and faxing capabilities of the MultiPASS C5500.
If you plan to use the MultiPASS C5500 as a standalone fax machine, see Appendix B of
your User's Manual for instructions on how to program your name and fax number.
The Automatic Installation Procedure
Your MultiPASS C5500 comes with a Setup program that makes installing the
MultiPASS C5500 software easy and fast. During installation, you specify the basic
faxing elements of your MultiPASS system, including:
Fax heading/Unit name
Be sure to fill in your name and number; this information is then printed on
the top of each fax you send. In the United States, you are required by FCC
regulations to include this information every time you send a fax.
Receive mode
During installation you will choose one of these four Receive modes to determine
how your MultiPASS C5500 will be programmed to receive faxes:
Fax Only mode
You must have a separate telephone line for the MultiPASS C5500 (called a
dedicated fax line). The MultiPASS C5500 will receive fax calls only
(no voice calls).
Fax/Tel mode
You can receive both faxes and voice calls with the same telephone line.
The MultiPASS C5500 will determine if the incoming call is a fax or a voice
call. If it is a fax, it will receive the fax without ringing. If it is a voice call,
it will ring the telephone. (You must attach a telephone to the MultiPASS
C5500 to select this mode.)
Manual mode
The telephone attached to the MultiPASS C5500 will ring for both faxes and
voice calls. If the incoming call is a fax, you must press the
button to receive the fax. (You must attach a telephone to the MultiPASS
C5500 to select this mode.)
Answer Machine mode
You can attach either a telephone with a built-in answering machine or an
answering machine only to your MultiPASS C5500. When you turn on the
answering machine, the MultiPASS C5500 can either receive a fax or record
a voice message on the answering machine.
