9.1 Introduction

Table 9-1 indicates some of the observable symptoms of failure that can be identified by noting the erratic
actuator functions.
Symptoms
Compare the actuator's symptoms with those in Table 9-1 and refer to the indicated subsections for the
appropriate troubleshooting procedures.
Actuator Current Output does not function.
Actuator Slidewire Output does not function.
Non-Contact CW/CCW operation is not correct.
Actuator does not control to proper position.
Auto/Manual Switch does not operate correctly.
CW/CCW switch does not operate correctly.
UP/Down Actuator action is not correct.

9.2 Troubleshooting Procedures

Overview
The troubleshooting procedures for the observable symptoms of failure are presented in the same order as
they appear in Table 9-1. Each procedure includes what to do if you have that particular failure, as well as
instructions for accomplishing the task, or a cross-reference to instructions elsewhere in the manual.
Equipment needed
You will need the following equipment in order to troubleshoot the symptoms listed in the tables that
follow:
DC Milliammeter – mA dc
Calibration source – Volt, mA, etc.
Digital Voltmeter
Safety precautions
Exercise appropriate safety precautions when troubleshooting the actuator operation.

While the unit is powered, a potentially lethal shock hazard exists inside the case. Do not open the case
while the unit is powered. Do not access the terminals while the unit is powered.
