9.1.3 Instrument verification for O2 high temperature applications
The SITRANS SL O
high temperature application is used to measure the O

obtained measurement values at ambient temperature don't accurately match to real or absolute O
remain stable at identical measurement conditions. The verification measurement as stated in this section should be
used to check any drift of the device but should not be used for calibration purposes.
Each device is delivered with a verification kit certificate which comprises the correction factors for temperature and
pressure required for the verification of the instrument.
Verification with the verification tube
The verification tube is intended for measuring the oxygen content at ambient temperature.
Necessary equipment
Verification kit
Sensor connecting cable
If your regular sensor connection cable cannot be removed from the installation, you need a supplementary one.
Barometer
to measure the atmospheric pressure
Thermometer
to measure the ambient temperature
Optical attenuator
to reduce the laser beam output (only required for option R03)
Span verification
For the span verification of the instrument follow steps 1 through 7 below. This process should be documented using
the form "Verification Sheet" in Appendix A of the manual.
Step 1: Setup of verification tube
1. Shut off and the power!
NOTICE
Electric shock
Never disconnect the sensor connection cable with the power switched on.
2. Shut the purging gas valves.
3. Start the procedure by removing the receiver and transmitter from the flanges. Depending on the prevailing safety
conditions and what is more convenient, the sensor connection cable may stay connected or be disconnected.
4. Insert the optical attenuator into the transmitter side of the verification tube (only required for option R03).
Then mount the device on the tube. The purge inlet should be connected directly to the transmitter to avoid a setback
of the attenuator when the purging valve is open.

5. Mount the receiver and transmitter on the verification tube.
6. If the analyzer has been moved to a location with a different ambient temperature than that at the installation site, you
need to wait until it has been adapted to the new temperature before proceeding from this step. In this way you avoid
condensation problems and assure static and homogeneous temperature distribution in the verification tube.
7. If necessary, connect the sensor connection cable between the receiver and transmitter and power up the
