Universal Remote Contro l
The DigitalTheater 6000 comes equipped with a universal remote control which will operate many TVs,
VCRs, cable boxes, DVD players, and DSS units, as well as the DigitalTheater 6000 itself. This means
only one remote control is needed to watch a movie, eliminating the clutter of multiple re m o t e s .

or off. Press the button (TV, VCR or c a b l e) for the unit
you wish to turn on or off and then p o w e r.

n i g h t This button engages the system's night mode, to
make quiet passages more intelligible at low volumes
and loud passages less intru s i v e .

Numeric Keypad Used for entering the TV, VCR, cable

box, or DSS channel number and programming the re m o t e.

Channel and Sound Gro u p These five buttons contro l
the TV ,VCR, cable box, or DSS channel up or down,
sound volume of the DigitalTheater 6000 up or down,
and muting the DigitalTheater 6000.

VCR Gro u p C o n t rols the VCR— play, pause, stop, fast

f o rw a rd, rewind and re c o rd. N O T E : The re c o rd b u t t o n
must be pressed twice to engage the re c o rd function to
p revent accidental re c o rding. The re c o rd button is inop-
erative when used on a DVD player.

Sound Input P ressing the D V D / D S S button toggles

between the D V D or D S S input re s p e c t i v e l y. Pre s s i n g
the appropriate button selects the A u d i o or V C R input.

5 - c h / 2 - c h P ressing the 5 - c h / 2 - c h button turns the sur-

round decoder on and off.
N O T E : For 5.1 channel digital playback, confirm that your
s o f t w a re supports 5.1 channel playback and select "5.1"
on the DVD's main title screen. Also be sure that your DVD
player is config u red for Dolby Digital operation by select-
ing "Dolby Digital" from your DVD player's set-up menu.
Refer to the instructions that came with your DVD player.
When the 5 - c h / 2-ch button is pushed again, the sound
becomes 2-channel stereo (the 2 - c h LED will illuminate).
Sound will be heard from the left and right channels plus
s u b w o o f e r. There is no output from the center or surro u n d
channels.
When the surround decoder is engaged on stereo materi-
al by pressing the 5 - c h / 2 - c h button, the Pro Logic LED will
illuminate. In this case, there is usually output from all the
speakers, even though the source material has not been
encoded in the Dolby Surround format. (N O T E : p ro g r a m s
re c o rded in mono will appear only in the center channel
when surround is activated.) Many listeners enjoy the
t h ree-dimensional effect of regular stereo material played
t h rough the Surround decoder.
p re v i o u s When using the remote to control your

television, pressing this button re v e rts to the pre v i o u s l y
viewed channel (If your television has this function).
