If one of the needles fails to
move, or if one of the warning
and indicator lamps fails to light
up:
Have the malfunction corrected
as soon as possible at an
authorized service facility,
preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad Retailer.
ABS self-diagnosis
The self-diagnosis routine checks
whether the BMW Motorrad In-
tegral ABS is ready for opera-
tion. The self-diagnosis routine
launches automatically when you
switch on the ignition.
Phase 1
Check on system components
monitored by diagnostic sys-
tem while motorcycle is parked.
ABS indicator light flashes.
Phase 2
Check wheel sensors while
starting off.
ABS indicator light flashes.
ABS self-diagnosis
completed
The ABS indicator and warning
light goes out.
ABS self-diagnosis rou-
tine not completed
ABS is not available, as the
self-diagnosis routine was not
completed. (The motorcycle
must reach a specified mini-
mum speed before the system
can check operation of the
wheel speed sensors: 3 mph
(5 km/h))
If an ABS error is displayed after
the ABS self-diagnosis is com-
pleted:
It remains possible to continue
riding. Bear in mind that nei-
ther the ABS function nor the
integral function is available.
Have the malfunction corrected
as soon as possible at an
authorized service facility,
preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad Retailer.
ASC self-diagnosis
The self-diagnosis routine checks
whether the BMW Motorrad ASC
is ready for operation. The self-
diagnosis routine runs automat-
ically when you switch on the
ignition.
Phase 1
Check on system components
monitored by the diagnostic
system while motorcycle is
parked.
ASC indicator and warning
light flashes slowly.
