an H4CJ or equivalent handset cord must be used

Installing Spade-Tipped Handset Cords
in Early Production
with G12A Handset:
handset cord (H4CJ or equivalent) remove J Hook

When adding speakerphone to 831-type
telephone sets; the 8RA dial must be replaced
by an 8CA dial (order separately) to provide the
additional off -normal contacts required for speakerphone
connections.

Maintenance of the 831- and 2831-type
telephone set should be limited to checking
for loose or broken connections and replacement
of items per local instructions.
