Trouble Check

If you run into any problem using the camcorder, use the following table to troubleshoot the problem.

The power is not on.
The power goes off.
The battery pack is quickly
discharged.
Operation
Symptom
START/STOP does not operate.
The cassette cannot be removed from the
holder.
No function except for cassette ejection
works.
The tape does not move when a tape
transport button is pressed.
The STEADY SHOT function does not
active.
The autofocus function does not active.

Cause and/or Corrective Actions
• Insert the battery pack. (p. 7)
• The battery is dead.
m Use a charged battery pack. (p. 6)
• Connect the AC power adaptor to a wall outlet. (p. 18)
• While being operated in CAMERA mode, the camcorder has
been in the Standby mode for more than 5 minutes.
m Turn STANDBY down once and turn it up again. (p. 11)
• The battery is dead.
m Use a charged battery pack. (p. 6)
• The ambient temperature is too low. (p. 63)
• Charge the battery pack again. (p. 6)
• The battery pack is completely dead and cannot be
recharged.
m Use another battery pack. (p. 64)
Cause and/or Corrective Actions
• The tape is stuck to the drum.
m Eject the tape. (p. 9)
• Rewind the tape or use a new one. (p. 16)
• Set the POWER switch to CAMERA. (p. 10)
• The tab on the cassette is out (red).
m Use a new tape or slide the tab. (p. 9)
• Set the Standby switch to STANDBY. (p. 10)
• Insert the battery pack. (p. 7)
• The battery is dead.
m Use a charged battery pack or the AC power adaptor. (p.
6, 18)
• Moisture condensation has occurred.
m Remove the cassette and leave the camcorder for at least
an hour. (p. 65)
• Set the POWER switch to VTR. (p. 16)
• Rewind the tape or use a new one. (p. 16)
• The camcorder is updating the cassette memory
data (The cassette memory mounted mini-DV
cassette only).
m Eject the cassette after C MEMORY indicator disappears.

• Shooting condition is not good enough to focus
