Quick Hardware Installation Guide
SCSI Hard Drive Carrier Removal
To remove the hot swappable SCSI hard drive carrier, press down on the release mechanism
located on the upper part of the carrier. You will notice that the faceplate has an indention in it
for this purpose.

Hard Drive Installation

View your hot swappable SCSI hard drive carrier. You will notice a metal brace is attached to
the rear. You must remove this brace before mounting the hard drive.

To remove the brace, remove the two screws that hold it in place. Place your hard drive into the
hot swappable SCSI hard drive carrier. Line up all the mounting holes and secure the drive with
four screws.
SCSI Hard Drive Carrier Insertion
Align the hot swappable SCSI hard drive carrier with the guide rails inside the bay. Slide the hot
swap hard drive chassis back into the hot swap bay with the faceplate half way down. Once it is
fully inserted, you can push the faceplate in the upright position. This will insert the drive into the
backplane and lock it into place.
Power On
Press the power button on the front of the chassis to power on the
StorTrends® 1312. Do not use the power button located on the back of
the chassis.

Illuminates green when the system is powered
on.
Illuminates red when the power supply fails.
There is also an audible beep.
Illuminates red when the temperature exceeds
its setting.
Illuminates red when the cooling fan fails.
There are two hard drive status LEDs on each
of the twelve SCSI hard drive carriers. One
illuminates green when the drive is online. The
other illuminates red if the hard drive fails.
