Adjusting the sound

Muting the sound

Press MUTE to temporarily turn off the sound. While the sound is off,
the screen will display the word MUTE in the upper right-hand corner. To
restore the sound, either press MUTE again or press VOL+/–.

Selecting stereo/SAP broadcasts

The multi-channel TV sound (MTS) feature provides high-fi delity stereo
sound. MTS also can transmit a second audio program (SAP) containing a
second language or other audio information (when available).
To set the SAP:
1. Press MENU in the analog mode, then press
OPTION menu.

2. Press

to select ON or OFF.
3. Press MENU repeatedly until the menu
screen is cleared.
Note: To return to normal viewing immediately, press EXIT.
To listen to stereo sound:
When the TV is turned on or a channel selection is made, the STEREO
will appear on the screen. This means that Stereo broadcasting is
available. You can enjoy stereo sound from the left and right speakers.
• When mono broadcasting is received, no indication is displayed.
• If the broadcasting signal is not strong enough or clear stereo sound
is not available, press AUDIO to change to mono sound. The noise
should be eliminated. Press it again to return to the stereo sound.

To listen to second audio program (SAP):
When the TV is turned on or a channel selection is made, SAP will
appear on the screen. This means that the Second Audio Program
broadcasting is available.

Note:
A second audio program (SAP) can be heard
only on those TV stations that offer it.
For example, a station might broadcast music
as a second audio program. If you have SAP
on, you will see the current program on the
screen but hear music instead of the
program's normal audio.
However, if you have SAP on, and the station
you are watching is not currently broadcasting
a second audio program, the station's normal
audio will be output; however, occasionally
there is no sound at all in SAP mode. If this
happens, set the SAP to OFF.
