Enable Ultra Speed (on External Devices) during Single-Ended Operation

When the SCSI adapter detects any external single-ended devices on the SCSI bus, it
defaults to 10 MHz operation. Use this procedure to override the default speed and run
at the Ultra signalling rate of 20 MHz (40 MB/s on a 16-bit bus).
To enable Ultra speed on external devices during single-ended operation, do the
following:
1. At the command prompt, type smitty scsia, and press Enter.
2. Select Change / Show Characteristics of a SCSI Adapter.
3. Select your adapter from the list, and press Enter.
Example: (This screen varies based on the adapter you select.)
Type or select values in entry fields.

4. Select Ultra speed on SE bus w/external cable.
5. Press F4.
6. Select enable, and press Enter.
7. Press Enter again.
8. If the change was successful, press F10 to exit SMIT.
Change / Show Characteristics of a SCSI Adapter
Enter AFTER making all desired changes.
