Non-IBM products, prototype cards, or modified options can give false errors and invalid system responses. Warning: Drives in the system you are servicing might have been rearranged or the drive startup sequence might have been altered.

Running Automatic Configuration may alter those settings. Note the current configuration settings (using the View Configuration option) and verify that the settings are in place when service is complete.

Before replacing the adapter or device, remove the FRUs, one by one, to see if the symptoms change.

    IBM PS/2 Model CL57 SX HMS Power Supply 5.0 Power Supply As the battery packs and backup battery have a given lifespan, having spares of these batteries on hand can eliminate problems. When one of these batteries is suspected of failing, the spare can be used in its place.
