6.1 Dismantling the chain brake

Release the brake by moving the kickback guard
backwards.
Loosen the bar nut and remove the clutch cover,
saw chain and bar. See Figure 1

Activate brake tension by pulling back the knee
joint as shown in Figure 2.
WARNING!
Exercise care to ensure the spring
does not fly out and cause personal
injury. Wear protective goggles.

Remove the cover by loosening the three screws
as outlined in Figure 3.

Insert a screwdriver in the spring and carefully
prise upwards until the spring is released and
slides onto the screwdriver. See Figure 4.
