Troubleshooting

Use this chart to help you solve daily operational problems. If there is any problem you cannot solve, contact your JVC service
center.
• Refer also to the manuals supplied with the components you connect to this system.
PROBLEM
Power does not come on.
"OVERLOAD" flashes on the
display.
Suddenly, the system turns off.
No sound.
Sound from one front speaker
only.
No sound from the surround back
speakers.
The remote control does not
work.
6.1-channel reproduction cannot
be done from Dolby Digital EX or
DTS-ES software.
Bass sound is heard reinforced
when listening in stereo.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
The power cord is not plugged in.
Speakers are overloaded because
speaker cords are short.
The sleep timer or Auto Standby is activated.
Speakers are overloaded because of
high volume.
The protection circuit functions for some
reason.
Speaker cords are not connected.
Speaker cords are short.
The audio cord is not connected correctly.
An incorrect source has been selected.
Muting is on.
Incorrect analog/digital input mode is
selected
Speaker cords connections are not correct.
The balance is set to one extreme.
The speaker setting is incorrect.
It is too far from the center unit, or is not
facing the center unit.
There is something obstructing the
remote sensor.
The remote control is not aimed at the
remote sensor on the center unit or other
components.
The remote control mode selector is set
at an incorrect position.
The batteries are exhausted.
The batteries have been inserted the
wrong way round (+/–).
Incorrect button is selected before
operation you are going to do.
Sunlight is falling directly on the remote
sensor.
The remote control signals are not set
correctly.
Reproduced non 6.1-channel software or
"EX/ES" is set to "OFF."
Appropriate bass level for stereo sound
is not selected.
SOLUTION
Insert the plug into an AC outlet.
Press
on the center unit to turn off the
system, check the speaker connection, then
turn on the system again.
If "OVERLOAD" reappears, unplug the power
cord, then plug it back again. If speaker
cords are not short, contact your dealer.
Turn these functions off. (See pages 18 and 56.)
Press
on the center unit to turn on
the system again and adjust the volume.
Check the speaker connection, then turn
on the system again. If it does not solve
the problem, contact your dealer.
Check speaker connection and
reconnect if necessary.
Check speaker connection.
Connect the cord correctly.
Select the correct source. (See page 16.)
Press MUTING to cancel muting.
Select the proper input mode. (See page
18.)
Check connections.
Adjust the balance properly.
(See pages 26 and 54.)
Set the speaker setting properly. (See
pages 24 and 55.)
Operate the remote control within 7 m
from the remote sensor on the center unit.
Avoid any obstruction. (See page 15.)
Aim the remote control at the remote
sensor on each component you want to
operate.
Set it to the correct position, "AUDIO/TV/
VCR" or "CATV/DBS."
Replace the batteries.
Insert the batteries correctly.
Select a correct source by pressing DVD,
FM/AM or VCR/TV CONTROL.
Press SOUND before you perform sound
adjustment.
Shade the remote sensor from direct
sunlight.
Enter the correct manufacturer's code.

Playback software bearing the mark

Set "EX/ES" to "ON" or "AUTO."
Adjust "AUDIO POS." (See page 26).
