long pants, boots and gloves. Do not wear short pants,
sandals or operate barefoot.
HOLDING THE UNIT
Stand in the operating position (Fig. 10). Stand up straight. Do
not bend over.
Keep feet apart and firmly planted.
Hold the handlebar firmly with both hands.
TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
1. Move the unit to the work area prior to starting the engine. Refer
to Moving the Unit.
2. Start the unit as described in the Starting Instructions.
3. Keep the unit tilted back so the blade does not touch the ground.
4. Squeeze the throttle control to increase the engine speed.
5. Slowly lower the unit until the blade makes contact with the ground.
Keep the wheel on the sidewalk or pavement.
DO NOT force the unit. Make the first cut no more than 1/2"
deep. Increase the depth by 1/2" and cut the area again. Repeat
this process until the desired depth is achieved. Refer to
Adjusting the Cutting Depth.
Cut at a slow, even pace.
Frequently check the condition of the blade. As it wears, the
blade will become smaller, reducing the cutting depth. Replace
the blade as needed. Refer to Replacing the Edger Blade.
WARNING:
To avoid serious personal injury, always stop
the engine and allow it to cool before adjusting the cutting
depth.
ADJUSTING THE CUTTING DEPTH
1. Gently pull the depth adjustment lever away from the wheel
bracket (Fig. 11).
• To increase the cutting depth, lower the edger blade. Move the
lever toward the rear of the wheel bracket.
• To decrease the cutting depth, raise the edger blade. Move
the lever toward the front of the wheel bracket.
