Cleaning and Care of the Vehicle
newest in technological standing. You
can obtain MB car-care products at
every MERCEDES-BENZ dealer.
Scratches, corrosive deposits, c o r
rosion or damage due to negligent or
incorrect care cannot always be
removed with the car-care products
recom m ended here. In such cases it
is best to seek aid at your authorized
MERCEDES-BENZ dealer.
The following topics deal with the
cleaning and care of your vehicle and
give important " ho w -to " information
as well as references to recom
mended MB car-care products.
Car Washing
Do not wash the car in the sun. Use
only a mild car wash detergent, such
as MB auto shampoo. Spray vehicle
well with a diffused jet of water. Direct
only a weak jet tow ards the ventilation
openings. Use plenty of water and
rinse sponge and chamois often.
Rinse off vehicle with clear water and
wipe dry with chamois.
Do not use solvents (fuels, thinner,
etc.) to clean the tail lamps.
In the winter, thoroughly remove all
traces of road salt as soon as
possible.
When washing the car underbody, do
not forget to clean the inner sides of
the wheels.
Tar Stains
Quickly remove tar stains before they
dry and become more difficult to
remove.
Window Cleaning, Wiper Blades
Use a window cleaning solution on
very dirty or oil-stained windows.
Clean windshield w iper blades with a
clean cloth and detergent solution.
Replace blades at least once or twice
a year.
To assist with the removal of accum u
lated road film on the windshield and
improve wiping ability, a cap of MB
auto shampoo can be added to the
3 liter container of washer solvent.
Plastic Parts, Headliner, Rubber
Parts and MB-Tex Upholstery Cov
ers
Do not use oil or wax on these parts.
Using afterm arket seat covers or
wearing clothing that have the tend
ency to give off coloring (e.g. when ■
wet, etc.) may cause the upholstery
(velour fo r example) to become per
manently discolored. By lining the
seats with a proper intermediate
cover, contact-discoloration will be
prevented.
Seat Belts
The webbing must not be treated with
chemical cleaning agents. Use only
clear, lukewarm water and soap. Do
not dry the w ebbing at tem peratures
above 80° C/1760 F or in direct
sunlight. Never bleach or re-dye the
webbing.
Steering Wheel, Selector Lever and
Instrument Cluster
Use a gentle dish-washing detergent
or mild detergent fo r delicate fabrics
as a washing solution. Wipe with a
cloth moistened in lukewarm solution.
Do not use scouring agents.
