Electrical System
Warning!
Battery fluid contains sulfuric acid. Do
not allow this fluid to come in contact
with eyes, skin, or clothing.
In case it does, immediately flush
affected area with water; if necessary
seek medical help.
A battery will also produce hydrogen
gas, which is flammable and explo­
sive. Keep flames or sparks away
from battery, i.e. improper connection
of jumper cables, cigarette smoking,
e tc ..
While the engine is running the bat­
tery terminal clamps must not be
loosened or detached as otherwise
the alternator and other electronic
units would be damaged.
Only tow vehicle with the battery con­
nected.
Emergency Operation of Sliding Root Unlocking of the Filler Flap
The sliding roof can be opened or
closed manually should an electrical
malfunction occur.
Remove small access plug in left
side-panel of trunk. Insert socket
wrench (from tool kit) through open­
ing in panel and place on the
hex-drive on the electric motor. Turn
socket wrench as desired to open or
close roof.
To close the sliding roof
Sedan: Turn wrench counterclock­
wise.
Coupe: Turn wrench clockwise.
If the central locking system does not
release the fuel filler flap automati­
cally, pull down right trunk panel
slightly and pull back the connecting
rod between the vacuum element and
door tab.
