Playing Back SMF/External songs from a USB storage
device (CLP-240)

Procedure
1.
Select the desired song.
After making sure that the USB storage device is connected to the instrument,
press the
[SONG SELECT]
buttons to select a song. The SMF songs are displayed as "Sxx*"
[–/NO] [+/YES]
and External songs are displayed as "xxx*."
* The "S" indication in the SMF song name means "SMF." The letters "xx" represent the song number.
Repeating songs in the USB Storage device.
Select "ALL": Play all SMF/External songs in the USB storage device in sequence.
Select "rnd": Play all SMF/External songs in the USB storage device continuously in
random order.

Start and stop playback.
Same as step 2 and 3 in "Playing Back User/External Songs on the Instrument"
on page 41.

Useful Playback Functions

Turning part playback on and off
When you select a song on the Clavinova, the indicators for parts that contain
data (one of
[RIGHT] [LEFT]
stopped, pressing these part buttons turns off the indicators, and the data on those
parts is not played. Pressing the part buttons toggles part playback on and off.
Starting playback automatically when you start playing the keyboard
(Sync Start)
You can start playback as soon as you start playing the keyboard. This is called the
"Sync Start" function.
To engage the Sync Start function, press the

(Repeat the previous operation to disengage the Sync Start function.)
Playback will then start as soon as you begin playing on the keyboard.
This function is useful when you wish to match the timing of the beginning of the play-
back sound and the start of your own performance.
Assigning the PLAY/PAUSE function to the left pedal
The left pedal can also be assigned to song play/pause operation via the "Pedal Play/
Pause" (page 51). This is convenient for starting playback of the song anytime after you
have started playing.
