Configuring the Preinstalled Software Your system has two different versions of the Solaris operating environment software already installed on its hard disk. When you first power on the system, you are prompted to choose between the Solaris 7 3/99 operating environment and its corresponding suite of preinstalled software, or the Solaris 8 operating environment and its corresponding suite of preinstalled software.
